Flower Power!

This week was a bit overwhelming. A lot has been going on and I needed a moment to just take a breath. So my wonderful boyfriend took me to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden yesterday. Nothing brings up your spirits like flowers and beautiful bright colors. That is one of the reasons why I love that floral prints are back in style this season. When I first discovered that floral patterns were a trend for this spring season I was a little afraid. The last time I went through a floral frenzy I was in junior high school and my floral dresses looked like those tacky Easter dresses I used to wear when I was five. But I have fallen in love with floral print and you can find a lot of nice floral tops and dresses at stores like H&M and forever21.

The Romper!

So last weekend I turned 24! I haven't had so much in a long time. My boyfriend took me out to eat at this restaurant I've been wanting to dine at for the longest, Son Cubano restaurant, in the Meat Packing district. We enjoyed a delicious meal while listening to a live salsa band play all night. Then that weekend my girlfriends took me out for dinner at Sazon Restaurant in Tribeca. And then we partied at Sazon's lounge, which is downstairs from the restaurant. A few days before my birthday my best friend and I decided to go shopping. I had no idea what I was planning on wearing and she suggested I wear a romper. A romper? Yea...ok I thought, those things look like lingerie. But apparently that isn't always the case. My friend picked out this adorable polka-dot romper from urbanoutfitters and I wore it along with some opaque tights, heels and a vintage purse. I was pleased with the outfit. And I love the fact that once it gets warmer I can dress it down and wear it with some sandals. The romper is a must have for this summer!

Vintage!

This Sunday one of my good friends and I went vintage shopping in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Vintage shopping is a trend that has stuck around for quite a while due to our nation's current economical state. And it just doesn't make any sense to not go vintage shopping. It's so affordable! The first store we went to was Buffalo Exchange. I bought a really nice black leather vintage purse for only $8. My friend bought a bulky necklace with a funky gray purse that had frills. Afterward we went to Monk Vintage clothing, which was right next door. I have been in love with the classic quilted leather chain strap chanel purse that has come back in style. But who can actually afford one? So nowadays a lot of people have been buying basic quilted leather purses with chain straps and I found a really cute one at Monk. It was only $20. And if you're going vintage shopping in Williamsburg you have to check out the all famous Beacon's closet. At that point I really didn't want to do anymore shopping but my best friend bought a bunch of blouses and spent less than $50. I own a couple of vintage purses, but usually buy my handbags at retail stores. But yesterday I came to the conclusion that I'm still going to buy my clothes at the retail stores that I love, but when in comes to hand bag shopping, I'm going vintage!

The Lace up peep toe boot

One spring 2010 trend that I am absolutely obsessed with is the lace up peep toe boot. It is one of the sexiest boots out right now and brings a chic touch to almost any outfit. Wear it with a short dress and a nice blazer or some leather leggings with a basic t-shirt and leather motorcycle jacket. This boot will give your wardrobe a necessary edge. I bought my pair at h&m for only $49.99 a few months ago. The first time I put on these beauties was on my boyfriend's birthday. So get out there and get yourself a pair!
